For Neighbourhood Watch Coordinators – Personal Data Management
You will have seen the information about the changes to Data Protection law with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and how ENHW has to obtain your consent to hold your own personal data as a coordinator.
- As a NHW Coordinator you also have GDPR responsibilities for the collection, management and safekeeping of personal data for your members. Details are covered in document A (see below).
- Additionally, if you have other coordinators who report to you, you also have GDPR responsibilities for the collection, management and safekeeping of their personal data. Details are covered in document B (see below).
- Finally, if any of your coordinators cannot run their own email distribution lists and you run them on their behalf, you have further GDPR responsibilities for managing the email addresses of their members. Details are covered in both document A and B (see below).
Please read the following two documents that explain your responsibilities for the collection, management and safekeeping of personal data:
A: Coordinators’ Responsibilities for Members’ Personal Data.pdf
B: Senior Coordinators’ Responsibilities for other Coordinators’ Personal Data.pdf
These documents record and formalise existing processes and act as a reminder of procedure. There is little new with GDPR other than being more rigorous in how personal data is acquired and consent obtained and safeguarded.
