Dear Surrey Heath members.

Heads up - we have seen a huge number of keyless car thefts over this period, especially of Mercedes vehicles. Please be aware and take steps to protect your vehicles where you can. Also worth noting we have seen more catalytic converter thefts appear to be starting again.

Please find below details of the currently reported burglaries (or attempted burglaries) to residential properties (including shed break-ins) as well as other crime statistics over the last period (22 Aug – 02 Sept 2021).

Summary details of these are provided in the list below.

Please note, where known I have used the approximate actual incident date/times rather than date the incident was reported (as there can be differences).

  • 29 Aug (23:30) - 30 Aug (00:30). Overlord Close. Males have attended house party uninvited, entered and gone straight to a bedroom where they barricaded themselves in, refusing to leave - after they finally did leave it was discovered that they had stolen an expensive speaker
  • 26 Aug (07:30) - 30 Aug (07:30). Sovereign Drive. Victim lives in a shared accommodation whereby £500 has been stolen from their locked bedroom whilst away at a festival.

To provide a further idea of the activities of the Surrey Heath Police team, there were 216 new incidents/occurrences being looked into during this period. A summary of these is given below along with some accompanying notes later;

Burglary Business & Community; offenders gained entry to a park via rear, driven to the garage across the lawn and gained entry by cutting the padlock before removing various tools including hedge trimmers, strimmers and batteries (Frimley Green),  two males have distracted staff whilst another male has entered the store through fire exit and stolen four nail guns. All three males seen leaving together in a white BMW.  (Windlesham).

Crime Vehicle; red Mercedes C300 AMG Line convertible stolen from driveway of home address overnight - no keys taken - tracker has been disconnected (Camberley),  blue BMW X3 M40I taken from driveway overnight – keys not taken (Camberley), theft of black Mercedes S 350 D L AMG overnight from residential property driveway (Camberley), 3 males seen entering driveway and one of them has been seen trying door handles of a BMW X5 (Camberley), victim has reported that unknown person(s) attempted to force their way into his van, seemingly with a screwdriver - damaging the door, whilst parked at One Oak Toby Carvery (Frimley), theft of tools from rear of Mitsubishi pickup canopy whilst parked at Miller & Carter restaurant (Bagshot), suspects have stolen silver BMW 420D from the residential driveway – keys not taken (Camberley), overnight a black Mercedes 220 GLC has been stolen from the driveway of a dwelling – keys not taken (Camberley), report of attempt of theft from / or of vehicle – owner awoken early hours by CCTV notification at the front of the house and saw two youths walking around Mercedes glc.  Suspects had managed to open front driver’s side door. Suspects fled when shouted at from window (Camberley), theft of laptop from motor vehicle – reported as likely missing whilst car was being cleaned (Lightwater), theft of grey BMW M5 overnight from driveway – keys not taken. Suspicious activity noted in road close by where males suspected of having keyless entry scanner in a bag (Lightwater), white Mercedes C class stolen from the driveway of the victims home (Lightwater), theft of bright orange KTM 250 motorcycle – taken overnight from back garden (Chobham), vehicle has had various items taken from within, later on all the wheels and spare wheel taken (Lightwater), front and rear index plates removed and stolen from 51 plate Nissan Micra. Males were seen to swap plates onto a blue Mercedes estate. Admiralty Way (Camberley).

Drugs; male has been stopped as driver of a hire car, detained for drug search and large quantity of cash and quantity of cannabis located. Male arrested (Bagshot), male seen parked up in motor vehicle and found in possession of herbal cannabis. CR Issued (Windlesham).

Drunk/Drug In Charge;  male punched wing mirror to a vehicle causing damage and has then been seen to drive erratically and at excessive speed before running away from police. Male has been arrested sus PLO / dangerous driving and criminal damage (Mytchett), police called to report of a possible drink driver. Upon arrival at location suspect was seen in the driver’s seat with the engine on. Driver failed to provide a specimen of breath at both the roadside and in custody (Lightwater), police called to single vehicle collision on the A331 where vehicle had collided with several pieces of street furniture before coming to rest on its roof. Upon police arrival the driver had left the scene but was later located and arrested on suspicion of being unfit through drink or drugs  (Ash), during a police stop check, driver has been drug wiped which came back positive for cocaine resulting in her arrest. Later also arrested for driving with no insurance and whilst disqualified (Camberley).

Suspicious Incident; Ring doorbell footage shows two males in driveway of property approaching front door and around vehicle at early hours of morning (Camberley), report of males seen with a saw attempting to break into a closed barbers (Camberley), report of suspicious behaviour involving activity with vehicles (West End).

Theft; inc front and rear index plates stolen from 55 plate grey Volvo S60 SE parked in Admiralty Way (Camberley), bicycle went missing from garden -  nearly new Carrera Vengeance mountain bike - black with blue handle grips and Muddy Fox D lock around frame (Deepcut), theft of wallet containing bank cards, cash and driving licence (Camberley),

Theft – Of Catalytic Converter; theft of cat converter from 07 plate Honda Jazz whilst parked at Longacres (Bagshot), cat converter stolen from 06 plate Honda Jazz whilst parked in Sainsbury’s car park on Watchmoor Park (Camberley), 11 plate Toyota Auris had cat converter removed whilst parked in Longacres car park (Bagshot), theft of catalytic converter from 06 plate Honda Jazz parked at Lomgacres (Bagshot), cat converter taken from 08 plate Honda Jazz whilst parked in Sainsbury’s superstore car park (Camberley).
