UK Police Memorial Service

Alert message sent 28/07/2021 11:01:00

Information sent on behalf of Surrey Police

His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales will today dedicate the new UK Police Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire. He will unveil a plaque and lay a wreath to commemorate those from our police service who have dedicated their lives to keep us safe and protect us from harm. The Prime Minister and Home Secretary will also pay tributes to fallen Officers.

Chief Constable Gavin Stephens will be representing Surrey Police at the ceremony with family members of PC Stanley Jones and PC Richard Gunn, both Surrey Police Officers who lost their lives in the line of duty. PC Jones passed away on 15 September 2005 as a result of injuries he received on 7 January 2004 when his unmarked motorcycle was involved in a collision with a van in Guildford. PC Richard Gunn died on 14 March 2004 in a road accident that occurred when he was responding to an emergency call. We will join police forces across the country in remembering and honouring our brave colleagues.
