Residential Burglary and Other Crime Report 30 June 2021

Dear Surrey Heath members.

Please find below details of the currently reported burglaries (or attempted burglaries) to residential properties (including shed break-ins) as well as other crime statistics over the last period (22 – 30 June 2021). Summary details of these are provided in the list below.

Please note, where known I have used the approximate actual incident date/times rather than date the incident was reported (as there can be differences).

  • 19 June (00:00) - 26 June (06:30).  Old Dean Road. Suspect male has climbed into the communal area of a building on 2 occasions and stolen articles of female adult and children's clothing.
  • 28 June (09:00 - 19:20). Chapel Road. Property owner returned home to find door handle hanging off. No entry to the property was gained.

  • 22 June (16:00) - 23 June (23:30). Cedar Lane. Bicycle, yellow Carrera Bengeance, has been stolen from communal bike shed in block of flats where bike was locked to bike rack.

To provide a further idea of the activities of the Surrey Heath Police team, there were 146 new incidents/occurrences being looked into during this period. A summary of these is given below along with some accompanying notes later;

Burglary Business & Community; suspects have gained entry to a building by forcing shutter doors open and have potentially stolen agricultural maintenance equipment (Camberley), suspects forced entry to small office owned by Surrey Heath Council, entered building and set off a powder fire extinguisher, which has covered the whole office in powder as well as spraying it around outside (Camberley).

Crime Vehicle;  report of work’s white Ford Transit Minibus stolen, written on the side of the van is Bisley Base / Running Chil as the Logo. Suspects cut chunky gate chain to gain access and left cutter at the scene (Bisley), report of theft of white BMW 520 whilst parked in pub car park for a few days. Owner still has keys (Mytchett), black LEXUS RC 300H F Sport stolen from outside home address. Keys not taken (Camberley), rear of delivery van parked behind shop was searched through by youths (3 x male 1 x female) who also tried to gain access to main drivers cab (Camberley).

Criminal Damage; tyre let down and scratches to paintwork of vehicle parked in car park (Camberley), bedroom window has been broken by a stone (Chobham), youths have wrecked plants in High Street (Camberley), damage caused to tents and equipment belonging to Basingstoke Canal Authority (Mytchett), unknown object thrown or fired at moving vehicle causing side window to smash (Chobham), further damage to equipment in tents and signs of use for smoking cannabis (Mytchett).

Drunk/Drug In Charge; male has been arrested for drug drive (cannabis) and possession of cannabis (Camberley).

Fraud Vulnerable Victim; scam text (courier fraud) and phone call (bank fraud) to victim (Lightwater).

Lost/Found/Prop/Person; vehicle has been parked up and police received reports that the occupants had been seen to park the vehicle up, wipe down all the handles of the car and get into a BMW and depart. Parked vehicle was shown having no insurance. On checking index plates were found to be attached by Velcro, these were seized and also subject vehicle was seized (Lightwater).

Prescribed Limit Offence; vehicle seen driving erratically by police, upon being stopped driver has blown 80 at roadside and 85 in custody (Camberley), suspect failed to stop at a reportable accident involving injury. Suspect once traced by police provided a positive drugs wipe test indicating excess cannabis (Camberley).

Suspicious Incident; report that 3 x girls have had a vehicle follow them (Camberley), report of shopping trolley thrown from multi-story carpark narrowly missing persons (Camberley).

Theft; theft from shop (Camberley), ongoing thefts from shop (Frimley), attempted theft of traffic signalling equipment - suspect has been disturbed mid-act and made off in car (Bisley), theft of 20 empty beer barrels from outside pub, suspect vehicle blue Ford Transit (Chobham), theft of purse from victim whilst shopping in store in (Camberley), BBQ lighter and tools stolen after being left out overnight (Sunningdale),  theft of Ford Fiesta Eco Boost from driveway overnight (Lightwater), theft of 2019 Hobby Excellent 560 WFU single axel caravan from storage yard. Suspects have cut through fence and then through some bushes to gain access to yard and then dragged the van off site (Camberley), male has entered Co-Op store and stolen items leaving without paying (Lightwater), theft from bins outside One Stop (Frimley Green), theft of ring from victim while in Frimley Park Hospital (Frimley), victim has had 3 metal bird feeders stolen from front garden (Bagshot), female has refused to pay taxi fare (Frimley Green), group of 4 girls have attempted to steal fake nails from shop (Camberley),  male has walked into shop and told child to help himself to whatever he wanted, so he did and left with 5 items without paying  (Frimley), victim has left her black iPhone SE on bus, suspect has found this, said it would be handed to bus driver however wasn’t and the phone was tracked to Basingstoke and now turned off (Camberley), blue Range Rover Sport stolen from driveway late evening. Keys have not been stolen. Seen on CCTV took just a few minutes for suspects to remove vehicle (Camberley), reporting of 2 x different thefts of mobile phones from customers handbags whilst in town centre shops (Camberley), male left Sainsbury’s Watchmoor Park with multiple different items without paying (Camberley), credit cards taken from van whilst parked in front of customer’s premises (Blackwater), shoplifting of meat from Co-Op (Bagshot), theft of white Trek One road push bike from garden - suspect has left behind another push bike (Deepcut), 2 x teenage males have taken 4 pack of beer from supermarket (Frimley), male has taken soft drinks and sandwiches and ran out of store (Frimley).
