Crime prevention advice

Alert message sent 21/06/2021 12:08:00

Information sent on behalf of Surrey Police

We have had reports of vehicles being broken into and tools stolen in the Addlestone area over the last week.

Consider the following crime prevention advice:

Do not leave tools on display and remove them from your vehicle where possible

If you own a garage, use it to secure your vehicle

If you need to park in a public place, make sure it is parked in a well-lit area ideally covered by CCTV

Consider fitting an internal alarm to your vehicle separate from the installed vehicle alarm, low cost alarms are readily available

Fit internal security lockers or cages for your tools and use good quality padlocks to secure them

Consider fitting additional external security locks and use good quality products

Post-code or mark all tools using ultraviolet pens or engravers, forensic marking such as Smartwater can be used

If you see any suspicious behaviour, please call 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Always call 999 in an emergency.
