Shift in Residential Burglaries

Alert message sent 18/01/2018 23:41:00

Information sent on behalf of Surrey Police

Dear Residents,

Over the past week or so, we have been pleased to see a reduction in residential burglaries in the north of the borough, in particular Kingswood and Tadworth where a number had occurred over the past months.

The good news however is short lived as we have seen a shift in burglaries to the more central and southern area of the borough in particular, Redhill, Reigate & Horley.

Whilst officer from the Safer Neighbourhood Team, Area Patrol Team and CID look into these burglaries to try and identify patterns and offenders under Operation Spearhead, I would ask for your support in trying to prevent them.

Can I ask you to please consider if you have left anything around your garden or outbuildings which may assist a burglar in gaining access to your or a neighbours house and either remove them, or lock them away.  We have seen simple items such as a garden hose used in a couple of burglaries to escape the scene from the first floor!!

Additionally I’m sure many family members including yourself received some nice, potentially expensive gifts for Christmas from jewellery to electrical devices.  Please consider taking the time now to register these items on the free immobilise website and increase your chances of getting your item back if it is lost or stolen.  Please visit www.immobolise.com for more information.

These are just a couple of steps you can take, however, if you would like some further information and crime prevention advice, please send me a message and I will ensure someone gets in touch with you.

Thank you for your support.
